Mother's Day Weekend

Here it is Sunday night already. Man....the weekend goes by so fast.

Friday night the girls both stayed overnight at friends homes.  I ended up having a terrible headache and rented movies and had pizza from George and Nick's. (All you that live far away..be jealous.  It was amazing!) We watched the movies Sister and Daddy's Home. Both are hilarious.  You can't be easily offended and need to have a sense of humor. Two characteristics that Nic and I each have....thankfully.

Saturday morning after girls came home we headed to Des Moines. It was a peaceful ride up once Kanon and Kaydee fell asleep.  Lol.  Our first stop was to get Kaydee a new bat. Then we had lunch at Cracker Barrel.  Who knew that by sharing a Root Beer and being told to only order 1 pancake would create such drama. Well it did! Can you say nap needed?!  Oh and that drama was started by our 9 year old.  Then we stopped at Kohls so Kenly and I could get new sandals. I actually hate buying new shoes.  I can't stand breaking them in.  I will wear shoes till they have holes....no joke! Which is why I had to get new ones. My black ones I have been wearing have a hole that has given me blisters.  Ridiculous I know but it's my deal not yours. Then we headed to Dick's sporting goods. This gave us a few chuckles if you can imagine.  Again a sense of humor is required in our family.  Then we went to Wal-Mart to purchase my new pots and pans! I've been needing and wanting a new set for so long.  We went back to the mall so Nic could check out some more bats. The girls begged me for a pedicure.  I am so glad Nic talked me into getting one. It was so relaxing.  The girls just loved it and seeing them giggle and smile the whole time made it so worth it.  The entire time I was getting mine all I could think of was the scene from the movie Sisters.  HEY-ONE....HAY-WON. HAHA...you had to of seen the movie. We ate at a new restaurant (to us) in Carlisle called Stadium View.  I had a Tenderloin and fries and they were very good. See people I don't just get chicken strips and hamburgers.  There was a large group of people in there that ordered tons of pizza and shots. Not sure what their plan was but for 7 pm and drinking that hard they sure wouldn't be lasting long.

Sunday I was able to sleep till 8.  I think that is considered sleeping in when you have 3 kids and 1 of which is 9 months old. We headed to Chariton to eat at Carpenter Hall. The buffet was amazing!!! More food then one should consume. The place was packed! We headed to the funny farm. The girls tried out their new bats.  The girls played outside while I was being forced to watch Parent Trap by Jacinda. She said it was better than watching baseball.  (Only reason I allowed it was because they were losing.)  We arrived home and Nic cooked supper.  Then we headed to Nic's parents to hang out. All Kaydee wanted was ice cream. Isn't it funny how all kids get ice cream at their grandparents home.  After getting all the kids tucked into bed we were able to put up my new pots and pans.

I do have a few finally thoughts for the day. A mom never really gets the day off. There is always laundry to do, toys to be picked up, diaper to be changed, kids to be fed, and baths to be given. I know many mom's who would give anything to change 1 more diaper, feed their child, give their kid a bath.  I go to bed tonight knowing I tucked in all my kids and thankful I was able to be mom. Even on a day to honor us. After all, we wouldn't celebrating this day if it wasn't for them.  I am so thankful for this life I have been give and this title called mom.

This is the candy bouquet Kaydee Mae made me. I loved it and so did she, as she ate half the candy.
Kanon watching the big kids play ball.
 My two boys!
Kaydee loves to help and push little brother.

My beautiful flowers from my love.
Yes I am extremely proud of this set.
My beautiful flower pot Kenly made me. I just love homemade gifts like this.

New Food Post

Okay, so many people are either fascinated with my food issues, find it completely hilarious and entertaining and some don't care or know I have issues.  So I thought I would blog about all my food issues.  Okay, lets be real, I can't blog about all my food issues, there are way to many.

Ketchup- I love Ketchup!  I can't stand tomatoes.  Strange huh?!  I love many things dipped in ketchup.  The following is a list of things I dip in it:  ham steak, steak, fish sticks, fries, hot dogs, bacon ( I don't have BLT, I have BBK, which is bread, bacon and ketchup!), potato chips (but only the regular ones), chicken and the chips you get at Applebee's with the chips and salsa.   My tacos include ketchup!  Don't judge until you try it!  Many people tell me what I call a taco is not actually a taco.  Its a hard shell, meat and ketchup!

Texture-This is a huge thing for me.  I don't even need to taste the flavor.  I can tell by the texture of food if I can eat.  Grapes-no way!  Strawberries-nope!  I can only eat bananas if they are cut up in a glass of milk.  They are to mushy.  Beans are a no way!  They are skin covered mush also.  The list could go on and on.

Here are a few shockers to some people that I do actually eat.
  • White rice- it has be in milk with cinnamon and sugar.  Love it.  Nobody makes it like my Grandma Beulah did as a kid.  I can still remember sitting at the bar stool eating my white rice with my Grandpa Keith.
  • I love crème peas.  This consist of butter, sugar, flour and milk.  I can only eat peas if they have crème.  Plain peas are just nasty!
  • Cottage cheese-yes people I do know what it is made of, no I do not want to talk about.
  • Hot dog-Same as above, do not discuss what it is made of.
  • Party Potatoes-I do not like sour cream or cream of chicken but I love party potatoes.
  • Fish Sticks-No I do not eat fish, but I will eat Fish Sticks from the store, they have to be completely covered in ketchup and I can't look at them when I cut them to eat.  One nasty sight of what's inside and I'm done.
  • Ham balls - this was introduced to me by Nic's family.  I am so glad he talked me into trying them.  They are one of my favorite meals.
Interesting things:
  • My dad and husband have always cut my meat.  There have been a few times that I have had to cut my own meat and it is a struggle.  It ends up looking like shredded meat and all crazy! lol
  • I tear apart my chicken strips and only eat parts of them.  It really looks like someone just went crazy on my plate. You can ask anyone that has been to a restaurant with me.
  • I use a school tray for supper almost every single night.  I do not like my food to touch.  If my corn juice was to run into my potatoes, I'm not eating it.
  • Growing up we didn't have school trays or divided plates so I use to get one item and wash my plate, get another wash it again.  Yes I know how crazy that sounds, but oh well!
  • I make my kids try all food.
  • I love curly fries but I can't stand the curly ones.  Yes, you read that correctly. LOL
  • I love to mushroom hunt, can't stand the smell of them cooking and would never eat them!  Gross! That actually goes the same for blackberries and strawberries, I never eat them but loved to pick them.
  • I love dipping my fries in my ice cream. That goes way back to my younger days with my best friend Paige.
  • I will not eat big cheese balls. I only eat the small ones.

I can imagine how crazy some or all of this must sound to many. Some things I can admit I have gotten worse about while others I have improved on.  I ate bowls of cereal for many suppers since I was a picky eater.  I loved cereal and still do this day so I always felt like I was getting the best deal by getting to eat that.  I never expected my mom to cook 2 meals.  Now that I am a working mother I will not cook 2 meals just because one of my kids doesn't like what we are having. (Love you mom and appreciate all you did....even on the nights you cooked ham and soup beans...yuck!)

I hope you were entertained while reading this post.  I'm sure I will have more food post later in life.
